To experience the nicest side of winter, one should spend the ski vacation in the Lungau.. . Whether ski driver or Snowboarder – in the Lungauer ski areas Aineck- Katschberg, Fanninberg, Großeck- Speiereck and Schönfeld-Innerkrems, one always finds the best prepared ski trails. Altogether  there is a 8 people gondola, ten chairlifts and thirty cable lifts. The modern mountain roads and elevators bring the keen skier up on the summit. Once you get there, stand over 200km of beautiful tracks. A perfect ski bus network connects the Lungauer places and the ski areas with each other. The Lungau is really a paradise for beginners and experienced winter atheletes. And one thing is for  sure: If the flowers already blossomed elsewhere, you still will find the best conditions to pull your traces in the snow in the Lungau.

Cross-country skiing:
One finds ski fun in the untouched nature in cross-country skiing. Nevertheless, it is not the length of the cross-country trail which decides the run pleasure, but the wonderful and varying scenery and the journey by snow-covered woods and meadows. Cross-country skiing in snow-covered valleys with sun shining in your face – that’s pure relaxation. And at the same time breathing in clear, healthy air and admiring the frost covered surroundings. There are also approximately 70 kilometres of skating tracks for skating enthusiasts. All together, the Lungau cross-country network encompasses 150 kilometres of well prepared tracks. The height cross-country trails make sure that also with lower snow amount a cross-country skiing fun is possible.

Mountain bike and Cycling:
Many people are persuaded of the fact that the mountains can be only defeated by well-trained cyclists. However, in the Lungau that is not the way! The sun drenched region in the south of Salzburg offers perfect conditions with its diverse scenery. For pleasure cyclists there is a well developed and signposted cycle track network in the valleys. One goes comfortably along creeks and woods by the nice Lungauer scenery. Small national park municipality Muhr is the start place for the marvelous tour along the Mur which leads from the Hohe Tauern to the Styrian wine land. Of course the mountain bikers do not come in the Lungau for a short period of time. Climax for the racing cyclists are the yearly „ tour de Mur “ and the World Championship for amateur cyclist “Samsonman-Bicycle Marathon” held in St Michael. Accessible, continuous, uniformly labelled mountain bike routes, covering a total length of over 560 km on diversified routes in Lungau’s mountains are waiting to be discovered.

Walking:
Discover the marvelous Lungauer mountain world! Many marked traveling routes lead past fizzy streams and crystal-clear mountain lakes. Cable railway and armchair elevators makes the rise easier and also guarantees for the more comfortable vacationer a marvelous alp day. The stop guaranties an enjoyable stay in an earthy hut or a comfortable snack station. A special experience is a vast traveling tour in the nature reserve Riedingtal. There one can enjoy picturesque footpaths, the healthy high climate and escape thus from the everyday stress. Another destination is Murtal. It lies in the national park Hohe Tauern, hence, the footpaths are lead by untouched natural landscapes. The vacation in the beauty of the mountain world Lungau is a relief for the body and soul.
